The 55B29 filter element (air-oil separator) is a high-efficiency coalescing air/oil separation device designed specifically for industrial screw air compressors.
Multi-layer coalescing filter material structure: The inner core filter layer is composed of ultra-fine glass fiber (typically HV glass fiber from the US or Lydall glass fiber from Germany). When airflow passes through the filter element from the inside out (or from the outside in), fine oil droplets coalesce into larger oil droplets upon collision with the glass fiber and fall into the recovery tank by gravity.
• Thickened anti-corrosion metal frame: Both inner and outer frames adopt high-quality thickened stamped galvanized steel plates or stainless steel, featuring excellent compressive rigidity. The filter element will not collapse, deform or rupture even under instantaneous airflow impact or high pressure difference.
• Integrally formed large oil-sealed flange: A wide outer rim flange is equipped at the top, which delivers superior mechanical sealing performance and prevents any short-circuit air leakage at the junction between the oil-gas barrel and the filter element.
• Dual anti-static design: Special metal conductive strips (static pins) are fitted on the sealing gasket. This structure can promptly conduct static electricity generated by friction of high-speed airflow, completely eliminating the safety hazard of combustion and explosion inside the oil-gas barrel caused by static sparks.

• Ultra-long service life and reduced maintenance costs: With standardized maintenance and high-quality lubricating oil used, the designed service life can reach 4000 - 8000 hours, effectively extending the maintenance cycle of equipment and reducing the frequency of shutdown maintenance.
• Protection of downstream equipment: The oil-gas separation efficiency as high as 99.9% can greatly extend the service life of downstream precision filters (line filters) and adsorbents in adsorption dryers (such as molecular sieves and activated alumina).

Since the 55B29 is a large filter element with a flange, details during installation directly determine its sealing performance and safety: • Electrostatic discharge (top priority): The 55B29 is equipped with metal conductive strips (static pins) on the flange gasket. Do not bend, cut off, or cover them with insulating gaskets during installation. It is mandatory to ensure the conductive strips make direct contact with the metal surface of the oil-gas barrel to dissipate static electricity generated by friction of high-speed airflow; otherwise, combustion and explosion inside the oil-gas barrel may easily occur. • Gasket and oil coating: The flange sealing gasket must be replaced simultaneously when replacing the filter element. A thin layer of clean air compressor oil can be applied to the surface of the gasket before installation to guarantee sealing performance during compression and prevent gas short-circuit leakage. • Diagonal tightening of flange bolts: When tightening the bolts of the oil-gas barrel top cover, tighten them in a diagonal cross pattern with gradual, multiple passes. This ensures even stress on the flange and avoids air leakage or gasket crushing caused by excessive stress on one side.
Manutenzione e sostituzione
Initial pressure differential: After a new filter element is installed, the normal initial pressure differential is generally 0.15 - 0.2 bar (≤ 0.02 MPa). • Alarm and replacement threshold: When the pressure differential displayed on the panel reaches 0.8 - 1.0 bar (0.08 - 0.1 MPa), the system will normally trigger an alarm. Shutdown and replacement must be arranged immediately at this point. • Risks of extended operation: If the filter element is not replaced despite excessive pressure differential, the energy consumption of the air compressor will rise sharply as a minor consequence (power consumption increases by approximately 1% for every 0.1 bar rise in pressure differential). In severe cases, the filter element support frame may collapse or rupture under the pressure load, allowing a large amount of lubricating oil to flow directly into the downstream pipeline.
